New Book Educates & Empowers Survivors of Sexual Abuse to Heal ***Interview Opportunity***
Announcing HEAL- an educational and empowerment program for women and men survivors of sexual abuse. HEAL provides a strategic path to heal with skills and new coping strategies to help survivors reclaim their lives.
Authored by survivor and advocate Wendy M. Johnson, HEAL is a just released workbook that includes 14 sessions. From session one, “Hope and Choice” to the final chapter, “There is Life after Abuse”, HEAL speaks the victim’s language and provides a new methodology for victims to overcome their sexual abuse.
"This brought me hope because it was different. I had hope that I could recover and not just ‘cope.’" -Survivor who completed HEAL
“I was in therapy for 5 years and never told my therapist I was sexually abused. It was not until I went through HEAL that I was able to actually talk about it and feel safe and progress more in a shorter amount of time then I ever had.” -Survivor who completed HEAL
Wendy believes: 1. YOU CAN HEAL Survivors can find peace with their sexual abuse of the past. HEAL provides a safe journey. Most victims will not go to therapy. Most will not report and many who do, are not believed. Sexual abusers are rarely brought to court. HEAL was created especially for those sexually abused by their family members, acquaintances or coaches or leaders, sex trafficked or experienced prostitution or marital rape. 2. HEALING SHOULDN’T DEPEND ON LOCATION We believe that healing should not depend on location and that victims everywhere should have equal access to healing resources. Because of this, HEAL is available on multiple platforms: support groups via web(live) conferences or phone support groups, workbook, audible book, or in-person support groups. 3. VICTIMS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY Even in situations where a victim was sexually abused by someone other than a family member, whether by a neighbor or trusted adult, raped or experienced prostitution, victims will someday be parents and will need the tools to provide a safe environment for their children. HEAL helps survivors work to end the culture of abuse in their own families before it becomes a multi-generational problem.
